It Will Always Be You… (Poem)

There’s not much I can do,

When all I think about is you.

My soul found home with yours,

And fighting this feeling is causing wars.

I think about you almost everyday,

So much so I wonder if I’ll be OK.

Some days are better than others,

But some days that butterfly hovers.

I wonder why we could never be,

When all I want is you with me.

The universe teases me and plays with my heart,

I tried to forget you and tried to spend time apart.

When I think I’m finally moving on,

I’m reminded of you when I hear a certain song.

I cannot bare this ignoring game,

I long to love you and heal this pain.

I can’t explain how I feel when I see you,

But I try not to look,

Because when I do, It’ll always be you,

Like the perfect love story from my favorite book.

I’ll never have you, and that is clear.

You don’t want me, and that I fear.

I cannot love anyone, because of you,

My heart just doesn’t know what else to do.

As I continue to pretend that you don’t exist,

I can only imagine what it would be like if we just kissed.

I’m fond of you, but you’ll never know,

As I burn this temple down, my love for you continues to grow.

I battle my heart and my mind,

I’m looking for answers, but they are hard to find.

I wonder if you’re happy and made the best choice,

Because if you’re not, just follow my voice.

When I sing, I sing for you,

It’s the only thing that I know how to do.

For now I can only wonder as I tame my mind,

I have so many things to say to you, but it’s the words I find hard to find.

My hope is to move on from what was never mine,

Perhaps there’s a future for us that has aged like fine wine.

But for now no matter what it is that I do,

Just know that- it’ll always be you…
